Gout Home Remedies and Gout Treatment
Gout is a type of inflammatory arthritis that affects the joints and is recurrent. This chronic condition affects individuals with acute attacks that are very painful. Mostly middle aged men are affected by gout although after menopause some women are affected, too.
Gout Symptoms
Acute pain in the toe, swelling
Acute pain in the sufferer’s big toe is the most common symptom of gout. It will become swollen, hot, and tender in just a few hours. It can sometimes affect other joints, too, like the wrists and knees. Sometimes an attack may affect multiple joints. Patients are frequently plagued by attacks during their sleep and an acute attack can last as long as a week. Patients may not have much of an appetite and may even have a fever during an attack. A gout complication is kidney stones, which contain uric acid. IN some cases the kidneys may even be damaged.
Causes of Gout
Gout caused due to Uric Acid Crystals
Uric acid forming in the joints, skin, and kidneys, is one of the main reasons gout occurs. The body creates uric acid at the end of chemical processes. Those who have gout have high levels of uric acid in the blood, more than normal, and this may be due to the fact that the kidneys are not filtering enough out of the body in the urine or because more uric acid is being produced. Usually, the uric acid just remains in the blood however when too much accumulates then needle shaped crystals are formed and settle in the joints, which cause gout attacks.
Excessive alcohol, heredity, rich foods, lack of exercise also causes gout
Causes of gout include eating foods high in protein and carbohydrates, alcoholic drinks, stress, lack of physical activity, and even heredity.
Gout Treatments
Treating gout using Cherry
Gout may be treated with cherry, both sweet and sour. The recommended amount is 15-25 cherries per day. Afterwards, eating about 10 cherries per day should help keep gout under control. The best treatment is fresh cherries although canned cherries may be okay in a pinch.
Gout treatment using Vegetable Juices
Another treatment option is using vegetable juice. The best type of juice is cucumber, beet, or carrot, or a mixture of all three. Taking 500 ml of these juices per day is highly recommended to combat gout.
Treating Gout using French Beans
French beans juiced can also help treat gout. Patients with gout should consider taking 150 ml of this juice each day.
Cure for Gout using Apple
Gout may also be treated at home with apples. The uric acid that causes gout may be neutralized with the malic acid in apples. It is recommended to eat an apple after each meal.
Gout Diet
Fast of Orange juice and water
When experiencing an acute gout attack sufferers should consider a fast of nothing but water and orange juice.
All fruit diet
Once an acute attack has passed it is recommended to eat an all fruit diet for a few days.
Natural food diet
After it is recommended to begin eating an all natural diet focusing on fresh fruits and raw vegetables.
