this is for tim – the exact same thing has happened to me 3 times in the last few months – my leg starts to bleed – actually squirting out a fine line of bood – almost 1 foot – it is quite horiffic sight -but pressure and bandages do work – I am in the process of seeing a vascular surgen as i understand these open sores – or ulcers can become infected if not treated – I would suggust you seek a vascular surgen to discuss your options – good luck

While sitting on the toilet, I noticed a small but bulging scab on my ankle. Not thinking twice I simply scratched it off, big mistake! Immediately blood began squirting out all over the floor and wall! A terrible bleed out! Wow! All from my varicose vein there. I put pressure on it with a tissue and picked up my cell phone and texted my wife, “Help”! She came running and got me to the bed where I could elevate it with pressure and that’s where I am right at this moment!
